Another race is in the books this past weekend, Round #5 of the D-36 Scott Sport Championship X-country Series was hosted by Ghostriders MC and they put on a great course and had much better conditions than expected due to the dry weather. The temperatures were prime, the poison oak was abundant and the racing was good!
This years format they switched the adults to Saturday and youth to Sunday. So first up we had three Dots in the 1st A/B race that was 3 hours long. Our Calum Campbell is the only one that survived of the 3 to the finish. With a 11th in the B-250 72 O/A good job Cal way to finish, 3 hours is LONG time! Ty Baker had an awesome HOLESHOOTTTT with a fist pump at the end, but it wasn’t meant to be for the young gun and he ended up injuring his knee on the 1st lap. Please keep him in your thoughts prayers as he had an MRI this week and their awaiting to see how bad it truly is. Keep positive kiddo!! His brother JT Baker was twisting the throttle so hard the cable decided it had enough and he also ended with a DNF in the B-250 class. His crew chief pit boss Rob Baker needs to stock up on those cables because I don’t think that will be the end of him twisting that throttle!!
The 2nd Race had all the C riders lumped into one big race with over 258 riders. We had 5 Dots in this race and I’ll go in order of overall. Max Parker took top honors with a 10th C-200 64th O/A, and right on his heals younger brother Mason Parker finished 11th –C200 65th OA. On our “MONEY LINE” Kevin Roe had a great start he thought he would pull a Ty Baker with a fist pump, but I believe you actually have to get the HOLESHOTT to do that!! He ended up with 12th C-Senior 144 O/A, Ray Kirchner DNF aka Handlebar Ray somehow managed to break his handlebar completely off past the clutch lever on the 2nd lap after hitting a fence post! How does that happen, you ask? He was running some vibration inserts for a 4-stroke (insert laugh)!! Sorry Ray about the DNF!! Steve Wilkins riding his new to him KTM broke it in with a 11th C sr-plus!
Sundays race we got all our youth riders out of the way in the one race and I can proudly say with out a doubt we have some FAST youth members! True to form and with an actual working throttle cable JT Baker took the overall and the win in the AA class with Calum Campbell behind him.in 2nd OA and 2nd AA, they were the only ones to get 4 laps! Max Parker took a 2nd in the A-85 6th O/A. Mason Parker took 4th B-85 10 O/A, and Brandon Stoffel took an 11th B-85.
April is going to be a very busy month with an Enduro, two harescrambles and Virginia City. I look forward to it all! So until next time this is your Rhodes Captain over and out!!
